    What is Underfloor Insulation?

    Underfloor insulation involves insulating the space beneath the floors in your home and is applicable to both wooden and timber suspended flooring as well as concrete floors. For concrete floors, a small hatch is necessary, often located in your kitchen (formerly the pantry), providing adequate access for our underfloor insulation installers to work efficiently. Typically, a space of around 2 meters is ideal for conducting the installation.

    Similar to loft insulation, various materials can be utilised, including Knauf Earthwool and Rockwool products, sheep’s wool insulation, foil insulation, PIR rigid insulation boards, or spray foam insulation.

    How Does Floor Insulation Work?

    While underfloor insulation might not result in noticeably warmer floors like underfloor heating does, it plays a crucial role in preventing floors from becoming excessively cold, especially in uninsulated spaces close to the cold ground, such as concrete flooring.     I engaged Envirosmart to remove old insulation from my loft, replace with new and partially floor the loft. Despite the job of removing the old insulation being particularly messy and unpleasant, it was done without any mess in the house.
